IMSLEC Individual Certification for Course Graduates - FAQ

What proof of CE hours do I need to provide?

• Applicants who graduated within the last year from their course will not have to upload proof of CE hours.
• Applicants who graduated more than a year ago will have to upload proof of 10 CE hours / year since they graduated (for up to 2 years).
• Applicants who graduated more than 2 years ago must also upload a certificate of good standing / current certification from their course or a certification body (such as ALTA, CERI, etc.) in addition to the CE hours mentioned above.
• Audits will be performed on a randomized selection of applications with CE hours.

What would prevent my certification application from being approved?

If you follow the process and requirements, your application should be approved. Your application will not be approved if:

• You did not graduate from an IMSLEC-accredited course
• You are not in good standing with your course
• Your CEs do not meet IMSLEC's Continuing Education Policy
• Failure to submit any of the required documentation or submit your payment will prevent us from approving your application.
• If your course has not submitted their Verification of Completion of IMSLEC Course Content and Principles of Instruction, you will not be able to apply.
• If your Course Director has communicated a deadline for your application to be submitted and you apply after that deadline, your application will not be approved.

How long does this typically take?

The application should take you less than 30 minutes to fill out. It may take slightly longer for applicants who have to add proof of CE hours.

The application process typically takes only a few days. Since your Course Director will need to review and approve your application, please be patient.
